With a lot of dedication and professionalism, far from families, the staff of the General Directorate of Social Assistance within the City Hall of Constanța managed to keep the new coronavirus away from the elderly accommodated in the Home for the Elderly, but also from needy people in shelters.

For more than two months, nurses, caregivers, cooks, security guards and nurses have been working in 14-day shifts to provide safety to the people in care. When they realized the danger of COVID-19, people volunteered to work without going home, to their families, for 2 weeks. But a huge effort that paid off thanks to them, no old man and no homeless person fell ill.

Protective measures are strict. Upon entering the 2-week shift, the staff is tested and no longer leaves the unit. However, their effort is rewarded by those they care for and who always thank them for being healthy and well cared for.

Dana Dobre - nurse at the Home for the Elderly: “On the part of the staff, it is a considerable effort and a great sacrifice because everyone has left their parents and children at home. We understood the situation and the need to work in shifts of two weeks each. I understood how serious it would be if the virus entered the home. "

Decebal Făgădău - Mayor of Constanța: “I congratulate you, I am proud of you and I appreciate that in these difficult moments you had the power to give up for the good of your neighbor. For more than two and a half months you have been taking care of the elderly in the home and the homeless people in the centers dedicated to them and the result is excellent, zero infections, both among those you care for and among yourself. I know that it is difficult for you to stay here in Constanța for 14 days, away from your family, locked up, either in the old people's home or in the centers you manage. Thank you"!

Since the declaration of the state of emergency generated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the City Hall of Constanța has taken the decision to totally prohibit the access of visitors to the Home for the Elderly and no old man is allowed to leave the yard.
